Project Overview

CREG supplied one diameter 10.03m EPB TBM for the construction of Lonato Railway Tunnels of the high speed Railway link Milan-Verona. Two twin tunnels were excavated with an TBM designed to withstand high water pressure and Alluvium with an extremely high concentration of huge boulders with high abrasion.

The Machine was equipped with a double screw conveyor and with extra provisions to catch big boulders to avoid damaging the tunnel belt. The FAT ceremony was held at the headquarters of CREG in Zhengzhou on the 22nd of June 2019. The total shipping time was around 63 days to the Lonato job site in North of Italy, close to Lake Garda. The TBM excavated the first tunnel with a length of approximately 4.8 km. After the first drive it was dismantled and reassembled at the initial portal.
