Cross Passage TBM is a special TBM used to bore cross passage (CP). TBM launch, excavation and receipt can be done in the tunnel. Module design methodology is adopted to allow the machine to work at either TBM or Pipe Jacking mode by combining different modules according to CP length and alignment. Compared with conventional tunnel construction, the construction of cross passages has higher requirements on some technologies related to advance, launch & receive, guidance, control of structural deformation, and segment or pipe erection. Therefore, a higher quality of construction has been ensured.
